Sri Lanka, Aug. 8 -- All arrangements are now in place for the final Randoli Procession of the Kandy Esala festival to take place tonight.

According to Hiru reporters, people have already begun lining the roads in Kandy city to watch the procession.

The perahera is scheduled to begin at 6:51 p.m., with the Tusker Vasana elephant from the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Dewalaya carrying the sacred relic casket.

Pradeep Meewanapalana, who is in charge of the elephant class at the Sri Dalada Maligawa, said that about 75 elephants are set to participate in this year's final perahera.

Due to the event, police have implemented a special traffic plan for the roads in and around Kandy city.
