Sri Lanka, April 17 -- Farmers in several regions, including Ampara, are facing significant difficulties due to delays in receiving the necessary fertilizer subsidies for the Yala cultivation season.

They are urging authorities to expedite the provision of these subsidies to facilitate their farming activities.

Farmers in the Ampara district are currently engaged in paddy cultivation for the Yala season.

They report that their crops are now around 10 to 15 days old, which is the crucial period for applying urea fertiliser.

However, they state that the continued delay in the government's fertilizer subsidy has left them in a precarious situation.
