Sri Lanka, Sept. 16 -- The Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Ratnayake, announced that the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will soon begin recruiting female drivers and conductors.
Speaking at a special event at the Colombo District Secretariat today (16), the Minister stated that politicians are responsible for the current state of the SLTB, which he described as being in a worse condition than the Mariana Trench.
He referred to SLTB depots as a "hell on earth" due to their numerous shortcomings.
To address these issues, he said that 25 bus depots are currently being renovated.
