Sri Lanka, April 19 -- A 54-year-old resident of Avissawella Road, Orugodawatta died after being hospitalised following an assault in the Grandpass area last night (April 18), according to Grandpass Police.

Initial police investigations indicate that a dispute between the deceased and his 20-year-old son escalated, resulting in the son allegedly striking his father on the head with an iron rod.

The injured man was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased's body is currently at the Colombo National Hospital morgue. Police have arrested the 20-year-old son in connection with the incident and are conducting further investigations.
