Sri Lanka, Jan. 28 -- Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa announced that the government would implement a guaranteed price for paddy if market prices begin to drop.
Speaking at a media briefing on Cabinet decisions, the Minister emphasized the government's role in balancing the interests of both farmers and consumers. He stated that while farmers currently benefit from selling paddy to private traders who convert it into rice for the market, the government must ensure a buffer stock to stabilize prices.
