Sri Lanka, Jan. 17 -- Two individuals on a motorcycle attempted to snatch a gold chain from a woman traveling on a scooter in the Batugedara area today (17).

Ratnapura Police noted the encounter took place around 11:40 AM along the Ratnapura-Badulla main road.

As the suspects moved to overtake the victim, they grabbed for the jewellery around her neck.

The resulting struggle caused the woman to fall onto the road with her scooter.

While the chain broke during the scuffle, it fell away from the assailants' reach, preventing them from completing the theft.

CCTV cameras in the vicinity recorded the entire event. Police launched an investigation using this footage to identify the suspects involved.
