Sri Lanka, May 24 -- The Matara Division Children and Women's Bureau has arrested a group of individuals who were allegedly extorting millions of rupees from wealthy businessmen by impersonating organised crime gang members "Rotumba Amila" and "Podi Lassi".

Investigations revealed that this extortion racket was orchestrated by a group of drug traffickers who have been detained at the Kuruvita Prison for some time on drug charges.

The investigations into these extortions began under the instructions of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Kithsiri Jayalath, who is in charge of the Southern Province.
