Sri Lanka, July 24 -- Experts are raising concerns over a rise in accidents related to rambutan harvesting, particularly people falling from trees during the fruit-picking season.

The Health Promotion Bureau has urged the public to exercise caution and avoid unsafe practices.

Dr. Indika Jagoda, Director of the Accident Ward at the Colombo National Hospital, said that around five patients are admitted daily with injuries from these incidents.

He noted that some people use electric wires to light up trees to protect the fruit from animals, which often leads to accidental electric shocks.
