Sri Lanka, Feb. 15 -- Urban Development Minister Anura Karunathilaka announced the decision to appoint a 12-member expert committee to clean Beira Lake and provide recommendations for its development.

He stated that increased algae growth has caused foul odors and discoloration of the water.

The minister added that the committee will formulate a program based on foreign expertise to address the issue.
