Sri Lanka, April 25 -- The Sri Lanka Excise Licensees' Association claims that the government is losing over Rs.200 billion each year due to the improper enforcement of the Excise Ordinance by the Excise Department.
In response, the association has sent a letter to the President and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, urging them to launch a full investigation into the matter.
The association has also called for a probe into the assets of Excise Department officers and their family members, raising concerns about possible corruption and misuse of power.
