Sri Lanka, Dec. 29 -- Between 300,000 and 400,000 cubes of soil accumulated from road repairs following Cyclone Ditwah will be utilised for national development and economic initiatives.
Nuwara Eliya District MP and District Coordinating Committee Chairman Manjula Suraweeraarachchi stated that plans are being made to convert this massive soil stock into a productive economic asset.
The Minister of Environment is currently consulting with geologists to establish a formal framework for the systematic reuse of the material.
The soil built up along roadsides managed by the Road Development Authority and the Provincial Road Development Office during post-storm restoration efforts.
