Sri Lanka, April 28 -- Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga has sent a letter to the Election Commissioner General, demanding an immediate end to the unauthorised use of her name and photograph in election campaigns.

In her letter, Kumaratunga stated that she has discovered candidates from the Podujana Eksath Peramuna, running under the 'chair symbol' in the Attanagalla Pradeshiya Sabha area, have distributed leaflets and posters featuring her image throughout the region.

She clarified that she has not granted any permission for the distribution of these materials.

Kumaratunga has also directed candidates and organisers contesting under the symbol 'chair' in Attanagalla and other areas to refrain from using her name or photograph in ...
