Sri Lanka, May 14 -- Former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has filed an anticipatory bail application before the Colombo Magistrate's Court today, on his possible arrest by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
This relates to the alleged importation of a shipment of substandard organic fertiliser during his tenure as the Minister of Agriculture in 2021.
Following the submission of the application, the Colombo Chief Magistrate issued a notice to the Bribery Commission to present its case on the 19th of May.
Former State Ministry Secretary Mahesh Gammampila is already under arrest pertaining to the case.
