Sri Lanka, May 16 -- Former Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and Jayantha Edirisinghe, the former Director General of the Board of Investment, are facing indictments filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The charges allege that they caused a loss exceeding Rs.1.7 million to the government.

This loss is said to have resulted from the use of the Board of Investment funds to publish newspaper advertisements commemorating the second inauguration of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The prosecution has listed 15 individuals as witnesses in this case.
