Sri Lanka, April 28 -- A European Union GSP+ Monitoring Mission is in Sri Lanka from today until May 7th to evaluate the country's progress in meeting the conditions required for its GSP+ trade preferences.

According to an EU statement, this biannual monitoring visit underscores the Sri Lankan government's commitment to continue benefiting from the scheme.

During their stay, the Mission will hold discussions with government officials, relevant institutions, politicians, civil society organizations, business associations, and trade unions. They will also undertake site visits to assess the situation on the ground.

Sri Lanka is one of eight low or lower-middle-income countries that benefit from the EU's GSP+ scheme.
