Sri Lanka, Jan. 14 -- A group of workers from the Loggill Estate in Dimbula Pathana held a protest yesterday afternoon, claiming they did not receive the Rs. 25,000 government allowance.

The demonstration took place near the entrance to the Loggill Estate on the Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road.

Protesters stated that 46 estate houses suffered flooding during Cyclone Ditva. While the government promised Rs. 25,000 for repairs, the workers alleged that only a few individuals in the estate received the money. They expressed suspicion that they were denied the funds due to their membership in a specific estate trade union.
