Sri Lanka, Jan. 30 -- The Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure announced the signing of agreements with Regional Plantation Companies to increase estate worker wages.

This finalisation occurred just moments ago, formalising a pay structure proposed during the national budget presentation.

Under the new terms, the basic daily wage rises by Rs. 200, moving from Rs. 1,350 to Rs. 1,550.

Additionally, the government will provide an attendance allowance of Rs. 200, bringing the total daily earnings to Rs. 1,750 per worker.

Cabinet approval for this increase was granted recently to ensure payments begin within this month.

The government allocated Rs. 5,000 million from the budget to support this wage adjustment.
