Srilanka, May 21 -- An 11-year-old girl tragically died yesterday evening (20), after being electrocuted at her home in the Kovilkanda, Welamboda Police Division, according to Welamboda Police.

The deceased girl was a resident of Wattappola, Kovilkanda.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the girl had climbed onto the concrete slab of her house using a ladder.

Electrical wires had reportedly been stretched across the slab due to monkeys frequenting the area, and the girl was electrocuted upon contact.

The body has been placed in the Kandy Hospital mortuary, and Welamboda Police are conducting further investigations.
