Sri Lanka, Nov. 1 -- Batticaloa Police have reported that a Technical Officer attached to the Batticaloa Election Office has tragically committed suicide by hanging himself inside his official room.

The deceased has been identified as M. Prasanthan (35), a Technical Officer residing at School Road, Bharathipuram, Eravur, Kalawanchikudy.

Police confirmed that he was unmarried.

The young man's body was discovered on October 30, having apparently taken his own life by hanging in his official quarters.

Police stated that the motive for the death has not yet been revealed.

Investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Batticaloa Police.
