Sri Lanka, April 4 -- The Election Commission has suspended the distribution of the New Year relief bag initiated by the government.
In a written notice, the commission stated that the relief bag can only be distributed after the conclusion of the local government elections.
The program aimed to provide relief to around 800,000 beneficiaries through the Sathosa Alawisaal network from April 1 to 13. While the bag contained goods worth Rs. 5,000, the government planned to offer it at a subsidized price of Rs. 2,500.
