Sri Lanka, Feb. 2 -- A 76-year-old mother of two passed away at the Monaragala District General Hospital last night following a collision with a motorcycle. Wellawaya Police identified the deceased as P.H. Jaslin Leelawathi, a resident of Weerasekaragama.

The incident occurred on the night of the 31st near Malwattawela Junction on the Monaragala-Wellawaya road. The victim was returning home from a religious sermon at a nearby house when a motorcycle travelling toward Wellawaya struck her as she crossed the road.

After sustaining severe injuries, she was initially admitted to the Wellawaya Base Hospital before being transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Monaragala, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The motorcyclist also sust...
