Sri Lanka, June 29 -- Eight students from the Ratemulla area of Thalathuoya, who embarked on a trek in the Hanthana mountain range yesterday morning (28), were successfully rescued in the early hours of today.
The group reached the Hanthana peak but became disoriented and went missing on their descent yesterday evening due to a sudden heavy mist and adverse weather conditions.
Upon receiving reports of the missing students, joint search operations were immediately launched by the Sri Lanka Army and Thalathuoya Police officers.
The operation continued throughout the night, and the students' location was pinpointed around 2:00 AM.
By 4:00 AM, all eight missing students were successfully rescued by the Army and Police.
