Sri Lanka, June 23 -- The All Ceylon Egg Producers' Association has decided to implement a mechanism for daily price updates on social media.

This initiative aims to address the issue of middlemen making excessive profits from egg sales.

Eggs are currently retailing between Rs. 28 and Rs. 32 each, after several months of inflated prices.

Many have attributed the price hikes, in part, to the activities of intermediate traders.

Sarath Rathnayake, Chairman of the All Ceylon Egg Producers' Association, stated that this daily price notification system on social media is a step to prevent egg prices from rising again, ensuring greater transparency for consumers.
