Sri Lanka, May 11 -- Consumers have observed a noticeable drop in egg prices in the local market compared to recent weeks.

Currently, eggs are being sold at prices ranging from Rs. 20 to Rs. 24 in many areas across the country.

However, during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season, egg prices were significantly higher, remaining around Rs. 26 to Rs. 28 in the days leading up to this decline.

Market sources say this drop marks the lowest price level for eggs in a considerable period.
