Sri Lanka, Feb. 1 -- The Periyanilavanai police have arrested a 49-year-old suspect in possession of a significant haul of narcotics valued at approximately Rs.40 million.

The arrest was made at the VC Junction in Periyanilavanai during a search of a luxury bus travelling from Colombo to Kalmunai and Sammanthurai.

Police discovered a variety of illegal substances hidden within the suspect's travel bag, including 15.6 grams of heroin, 73.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 34.49 grams of Kerala cannabis, and 94.56 grams of hashish.

The suspect, a resident of Akkaraipattu, provided information during interrogation that led to a secondary raid in the Karuvattukal area along the Alivanniyar Road in Sammanthurai.
