Sri Lanka, Jan. 17 -- Horana Chief Magistrate Chandana Kalansuriya ordered the release of a three-wheeler driver on a personal bail of Rs. 500,000 yesterday (17).
The court also directed the suspect to pay Rs. 40,000 in compensation, providing Rs.20,000 to each of the two underage victims.
Police informed the court that the driver attempted to make a sudden turn across the road in front of Medhankara College while travelling from Horana toward Moragahahena.
This manoeuvre resulted in a collision with a motorcycle travelling from the opposite direction.
The force of the impact caused the motorcycle to veer off and strike two students, aged 11 and 12, who were standing by the roadside.
