Sri Lanka, May 5 -- Police have identified a man who was shot dead in front of a restaurant in the Tambahitiya area of the Meetiyagoda police division last night as a suspect in a 2015 double murder which stemmed from a personal dispute.
The shooting incident took place at "Restaurant 86" on the Meetiyagoda-Manampita Road in Iranawila, where a group of people were having a drinking party.An unidentified group arriving on two motorcycles opened fire with a T-56 assault rifle before fleeing the scene.Two individuals, Sarath Chaminda Udayakumara and Mahadura Nalin Wasantha, both residents of Iranawila, sustained gunshot wounds and were admitted to the Balapitiya Base Hospital.Udayakumara, a 47-year-old resident of Meetiyagoda, succumbed to ...
