Sri Lanka, May 18 -- In response to the prevailing heavy rainfall due to the southwest monsoon, all district Disaster Management Centres are preparing to handle any potential emergencies.
Disaster Management Centre Director Pradeep Kodippili stated that the 117 emergency hotline is operational 24 hours a day in all three languages for the public.
While no significant disaster has been reported yet, he added that based on Meteorology Department data, disaster situations could arise in the future with increasing rainfall.
