Sri Lanka, May 28 -- The new moon for the month of Dhul Hijjah was sighted today, the 28th of May, according to the Colombo Grand Mosque.

The Colombo Grand Mosque, in consensus with the Hilal Committee of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, has unanimously declared that the first day of Dhul Hijjah will be the 29th of May.

Accordingly, the Hajj festival is scheduled to be celebrated on the 7th of June.
