Sri Lanka, June 25 -- Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne has issued a stern warning that strict legal action will be taken against those hoarding fertiliser, including the revocation of their licences.

He made these remarks during a meeting in the Kurunegala area.

Meanwhile, farmers in the Kajuwatta area of Aralaganwila are complaining that despite 45 days having passed since sowing paddy, they have yet to receive adequate fertiliser supplies.

In a related development, maize farmers and traders from Uva Wellassa staged a protest yesterday (24) in front of the Ministry of Agriculture.

They claim that the current price for maize is insufficient, highlighting ongoing challenges faced by the agricultural sector.
