Sri Lanka, Feb. 21 -- Following the shooting at the Aluthkade courthouse yesterday, Deputy Minister of Public Security Sunil Watagala visited the scene but remained silent when questioned by journalists. As he left, an incident where he allegedly called his driver a donkey over the phone became widely discussed.
MP Dayasiri Jayasekara brought up the matter in Parliament today, while a journalist questioned its impact on the driver's family at the Cabinet press conference. In response, Cabinet Media Spokesperson Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa acknowledged that such remarks could occur in tense situations and expressed regret on behalf of the Deputy Minister.
