Sri Lanka, April 18 -- Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe has filed a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department concerning the circulation of photos and false news on social media that target him and his daughter.The social media posts allege that the Deputy Minister hosted an extravagant birthday celebration for his daughter at a luxury hotel.In his complaint, Deputy Minister Jayasinghe clarified that the birthday party depicted in the photos actually took place in the Giriulla area on April 16, 2023, and that the claims being made are false.

He is seeking an investigation into the source of the misinformation.
