Sri Lanka, April 26 -- Deputy Minister of Lands and Irrigation, Susil Ranasinghe, conducted an on-site inspection at the Kala Wewa in Anuradhapura this morning following widespread reports of a water leak.
The visit comes in response to recent media and social media coverage highlighting the issue near the spillway of the Kala Wewa dam, a significant reservoir in Sri Lanka.
Concerns regarding the potential danger posed by the leak had been voiced by environmentalists, the Buddhist clergy, and residents.
During the inspection, Deputy Minister Ranasinghe, along with the Irrigation Engineer in charge of Kala Wewa, Buddhika Navaratne, addressed the situation.
