Sri Lanka, April 19 -- Sri Lanka's primary agricultural sectors have experienced a downturn in production for the first two months of this year, with tea, coconut, and rubber outputs all showing a decline.
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka reports that tea production in February fell to 15.6 million kilograms.
This decrease is attributed to prevailing dry weather conditions across tea-growing regions.
This figure represents a significant drop compared to the 19.99 million kilograms produced in February 2024.
Rubber production also saw a decrease, reaching 5.03 million kilograms in February 2025.
This is a notable decline when compared to the 7.11 million kilograms recorded in February of the previous year.
