Sri Lanka, Oct. 16 -- The Sri Lanka Customs today (16) informed the Court of Appeal that vehicles currently detained for being imported from a country other than the country of manufacture, despite having valid Letters of Credit (LCs) opened in Sri Lanka, can be released subject to certain conditions.
Approximately 15 fundamental rights petitions, filed by vehicle importers seeking an order for the release of the detained vehicles, were called before the Court of Appeal today.
The petitions were heard before an Appeal Court bench comprising Court of Appeal President Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya and Justice Priyantha Fernando.
