Sri Lanka, June 8 -- Sri Lanka Customs today (8) refuted allegations that over 300 containers that were released by the Port without inspection early this year, contained weapons, gold, or drugs.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, Customs Media Spokesperson Seevali Arukgoda stated that those containers only contained industrial goods and raw materials of importers

He added that an internal audit will be conducted by Customs regarding the matter.

Furthermore, an investigation will be carried out by a committee appointed by the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, and the Criminal Investigation Department will also launch an inquiry.
