Sri Lanka, Jan. 26 -- Sri Lanka Customs has surpassed its revenue target for January, collecting Rs. 175.4 billion in the first 22 days 9.5% above the month's goal of Rs. 160.2 billion, official data shows.
The surge comes after Customs accelerated container clearance following disruptions caused by Cyclone Ditwah in November and higher import activity in December.
Last year, Customs recorded a historic Rs. 2,551 billion in revenue, exceeding the revised target of Rs. 2,241 billion and marking a 64.2% increase from 2024's Rs. 1,553 billion.
For 2026, the agency has set a slightly lower target of Rs. 2,207 billion, anticipating a drop in car imports.
