Sri Lanka, July 4 -- Sri Lanka's campaign to qualify for the Rugby World Cup has ended following a shocking defeat to the United Arab Emirates in their final encounter of the Asia Men's Rugby Championship today (4).
At one point during the first half, Sri Lanka held a 13 to 12 lead before the UAE took control, leading 22 points to 16 at half-time.
Soon after the second half commenced, Sri Lanka scored a try, narrowing the UAE's lead to just one point.
However, several Sri Lankan try attempts were thwarted by the UAE during the second half.
In the end, the UAE secured another try, claiming victory by 29 points to 21.
Sri Lanka had previously lost to South Korea and Hong Kong China in their earlier matches.
