Sri Lanka, May 26 -- Professor Venerable Kotapitiye Rahula Thera has accused the current government of failing to uphold the constitutional value afforded to Buddhism in the country.

He made these remarks yesterday (25), during a ceremony at Pannipitiya Devram Maha Viharaya, held to felicitate the Deputy Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Sri Saddhammawanshika Sect, Venerable Hipankande Saddhasiri Thera, who received the Mahasaddhamjothikadhaja honorary degree from the Myanmar government.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa was also present at the event.
