Sri Lanka, April 20 -- Farmers in several regions are currently experiencing significant difficulties due to the non-receipt of the government's fertilizer subsidy.

The Chairman of the Eastern Province Farmers' Union, Anuradha Tennakoon, stated that this issue has impacted cultivation activities across a considerable number of paddy fields.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne has announced that the government has decided to discontinue the fertilizer subsidy in the future and instead provide a cultivation subsidy.
