Sri Lanka, June 5 -- The Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate has firmly rejected a request from the main suspect in the case involving the rape of a doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, to make another statement in open court.

The rejection came when the case was called yesterday (4).

Responding to the suspect's plea, a Sub-Inspector from the Anuradhapura Police Children and Women's Bureau stated that the suspect was attempting to use the court to make various false statements, with the intention of slandering and inconveniencing the victimised doctor.
