Sri Lanka, May 16 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali today (16) denied a request from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to revoke the bail granted to Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake and remand him in custody.

The case pertains to allegations of bribery.

CIABOC requested the court to revoke the previously granted bail, asserting that remanding the parliamentarian was necessary.

However, after reviewing the presented facts, the magistrate concluded that the evidence provided was insufficient to warrant the revocation of bail and subsequent remand.

Consequently, the court rejected CIABOC's request.
