Sri Lanka, May 16 -- The Court of Appeal has ordered the petition filed by former rugby player Waruna de Silva, seeking an order to compel the Director General of Sports to immediately hold the postponed Sri Lanka Rugby Federation elections, to be considered on May 20.
The case was heard yesterday (15) before the Appeal Court bench comprising Acting President of the Court of Appeal Mohamed Lafar Tahir and Justice Priyantha Fernando.
President's Counsel Faizer Musthapha, appearing for the petitioner, urged the court to assign a date to clarify the facts, noting that the Director General of Sports had previously given an undertaking before the Colombo District Court to conduct the elections.
