Sri Lanka, Sept. 4 -- The Court of Appeal has issued an interim order to temporarily suspend the legal proceedings against the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, retired Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravi Seneviratne.

The trial, which is being held at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court, relates to charges from 2023, including driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to prevent a motor vehicle accident.

The interim order was granted after Seneviratne filed a petition requesting a transfer of the case to another court.

The petition was taken up for consideration by the Court of Appeal bench comprising Justices Mayadunne Corea and Mahen Gopallawa.
