Sri Lanka, Sept. 4 -- The Court of Appeal has issued a temporary order preventing the Colombo Crimes Division from arresting a lawyer linked to the investigation of a shooting incident involving Thusitha Halloluwa, the former Director of the National Lotteries Board. The interim restraining order will be in effect for a period of 14 days.

The decision was made by a bench consisting of the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya, and Justice Priyantha Fernando, after a petition was filed by the attorney.

Speaking on behalf of the petitioner, President's Counsel Saliya Pieris argued there was insufficient evidence for an arrest.
