Sri Lanka, Feb. 21 -- The Colombo Magistrate's Court has issued a travel ban on an individual allegedly promoting a pyramid investment scheme in Sri Lanka from abroad.
Colombo Chief Magistrate granted the order following a request by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which informed the court that the suspect was involved in recruiting around 5,000 people for a scheme operating from Malaysia.
The CID stated that these activities violate Central Bank regulations and requested the travel restriction. Accepting the request, the court ruled that the individual cannot leave the country without its permission.
