Sri Lanka, Aug. 28 -- Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has stated that the money lost to corruption in the past was the same money that could have been used to meet the basic needs of the country's citizens.
The Prime Minister made the remarks today (28) while participating in a programme in Colombo.
The event marked the first phase of a series of programmes aimed at educating local government councillors on achieving a "Corruption-Free Sri Lanka."
Chaired by the Prime Minister, the programme was also attended by the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Ranga Dissanayake.
