Sri Lanka, June 7 -- The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has recommended the appointment of an independent investigation committee to thoroughly examine all allegations of corruption and irregularities that have emerged at Sabaragamuwa University.

COPE has instructed the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education to ensure that no official from the university's current administration is involved in the investigation committee.

Furthermore, the committee stressed that these investigations must be conducted and completed as swiftly as possible.

During its deliberations, COPE extensively discussed the tragic death of Charith Dilshan, a second-year student at the university.
