Sri Lanka, May 3 -- All campaigning activities for the local government elections, scheduled for May 6, will conclude at midnight tonight (3).
Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake reiterated yesterday (2) that no campaigning is permitted during the quiet period leading up to the election.
The Election Commission has reported an increase in the number of complaints received regarding the local government elections.
Furthermore, the Department of Registration of Persons has announced that all public services, including the one-day service, will be suspended at its head office and provincial offices on May 6 and 7 due to the elections.
