Srilanka, Jan. 7 -- A new payment system for street and public space lighting is proposed through the National Electricity Policy, according to Sanjeewa Dhammika, National Secretary of the Electricity Users' Association.
The proposal suggests charging a fee not exceeding 2.2% of the total bill value from individual consumers to cover these costs. The Secretary shared these details during a press conference held yesterday, noting that high-profit sectors such as expressways and industrial zones remain exempt from this specific tax.
